2012: A Year of Extravagant Living

The new year is now in full swing, and I have thought about my goals and such, but have not written them out yet. I don't like to call these goals "New Years Resolutions," for the only fact that has a bad taste in my mouth of doing okay through January, but slipping up during February, and totally off the bandwagon in March (and I'm being generous). God does not have a legalistic view that ties us down; he just wants our full heart and soul in what we do, so we can accomplish these goals with first looking to Him! So here are my goals for the year (subject to change):

  • Develop a consistent workout routine
  • Graduate college with good grades and everything I need to move forward
  • Raise funds and get ready fully to go to Panama on a missions trip this summer for 4 weeks
  • Learn Spanish somewhat fluently-- I want to invest into my future of working/teaching in Central and South America teaching English to children and loving on them; I also want to invest into my missions trip this summer so I can be better equipped
  • Figure out what in the world I will be doing after college- where to live, where to apply to teach, what to do, etc.
  • Spend extravagant time with the Lord - tithing time to Him each day. My church, for the month of January, is doing a Live Dead Challenge where they are spending two and a half hours with God a day, which is 10%. I want to work up to that number, and spend that time with Him to be better equipped to do His work.
  • Building friendships and relationships that are founded on God and that will be lifelong.
So there you have it, folks! Out there for all to see, and I can't wait to check those goals off of my list!
